Former Real Housewives of Potomac star Mia Thornton was arrested in Atlanta on Wednesday and charged with theft after allegedly stealing furniture from a rental unit, police say.
According to a statement from the Atlanta Police Department, Thornton was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson airport after officers responded to a call about a “wanted person” at the Customs and Border Protection office. Thornton had an open warrant “related to a larceny involving an alleged furniture theft” and was taken into custody at the airport.
In a police report reviewed by The Cut, the property-management company for a condo rented by Thornton and a man named Jared McGriff alleges that on October 28 the pair “suddenly moved out of the unit in the middle of the night” without alerting anyone. Thornton and McGriff allegedly took “all of the furniture” in the furnished condo as well as the TV, which in total was valued at $11,000.

In April, Thornton announced that she was leaving RHOP after four seasons, saying that she and her family had decided to relocate to Atlanta. “This next chapter is already full of exciting opportunities, and I can’t wait to take you all along for the ride,” Thornton wrote of her “new beginning” on Instagram.
Thornton is not the only Potomac housewife to find herself in legal trouble recently. Last month Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie, were indicted for fraud after allegedly falsely reporting a burglary. In September, Karen Huger was released from prison after serving six months on DUI charges. Meanwhile, over on the West Coast, the Beverly Hills Housewives keep having their houses broken into.
