Wicked: For Good will soon match Wicked in renown. Ahead of Cynthia Erivo’s hosting gig at the Tony Awards on June 8, Universal finally dropped the Wicked: For Good trailer. The trailer teases some moments that fans are hotly anticipating from the stage musical, along with some new ones. Broadway fans will clock the brief snippets of Erivo and Ariana Grande singing Elphaba and Glinda’s titular duet, “For Good,” and “No Good Deed.” The way Erivo and Grande look soulfully into each other’s eyes, Ao3 might just explode.
But then there’s the new stuff, like Glinda wearing a wedding dress. In the original musical, she gets engaged to Fiyero, but the two never officially wed. Director Jon M. Chu somehow has to top the beautiful wedding scene in Crazy Rich Asians. Erivo sings a new melody, presumably Elphaba’s original song. The other new song will be sung by Glinda. Dorothy, who appears only in silhouette in the stage show, appears here in full-ish body walking on a certain road, and getting instructions to get the Wicked Witch’s broom — though we don’t yet see her face. Peep Dorothy’s peepers when Wicked: For Good premieres November 21.
