Just say the word and we can put in a call for the Acid Queen and send over a pinball machine. Roger Daltrey, at 81 years old, says his life is slowly beginning to mirror the protagonist of the Who’s rock opera, Tommy — a full-circle moment he’s taking with a tremendous sense of humor. “The joys of getting old mean you go deaf. I also now have got the joy of going blind,” the front man said at his annual Teenage Trust Show on March 30. “Fortunately I still have my voice, because then I’ll have a full Tommy.” Sky News reports that later in the show, Daltrey’s bandmate Pete Townshend told the audience he had his left knee replaced over a month ago. “Maybe I should auction off the old one,” he joked. Daltrey had previously indicated he was 33 percent Tommy Walker, admitting back in 2018 he was “very, very deaf” from decades of being surrounding by loud music. (“Take your fucking earplugs to the gigs,” he advised.) So now it’s time to see him, feel him, touch him, and heal him.
