For the past four years, we’ve all been wondering what the troubled teens of Euphoria have been up to. Did they go to college, let their frontal lobes develop a bit, and finally find themselves on the straight and narrow? Ha! No, of course not. The trailer for the show’s third season dropped on Wednesday, revealing that Zendaya’s, Jacob Elordi’s, and Sydney Sweeney’s characters are all, without a doubt, just as messy as they’ve always been.
Also returning for more debaucherous shenanigans are Hunter Schafer, Maude Apatow, and Alexa Demie. The new season takes place five years after season two, allowing the characters plenty of time to get even more messed up than when we left them.
“A few years after high school, I don’t know if life was exactly what I wished,” Zendaya’s character, Rue, says in voice-over that accompanies footage of her once again running for her life. “But somehow, for the first time, I was beginning to have faith.” So it looks like Rue has found Catholicism just in time for her to owe a lot of money to Laurie, the drug dealer played by Martha Kelly. Bad timing.

Elsewhere in the Euphoria-verse, Elordi’s Nate and Sweeney’s Cassie are still together, with him seemingly running a construction company while she gets dressed up in a sexy dog costume and has their housekeeper take videos of her on all fours for “content.” “I work all day, and my bride-to-be is spread-eagled on the internet,” Nate says. So I guess we’re getting contemporary domestic drama from those two.
Meanwhile, Schafer’s Jules is … sitting in a sleek apartment somewhere in Manhattan and is maybe a sugar baby. She gets about as much screen time in the trailer as cast newcomer Rosalía, who plays a stripper in a bedazzled neck brace.
Most important, the trailer reveals that Euphoria is returning on April 12, which gives us a little less than three months to properly gird our loins.
