If you’ve ever experienced the euphoria that is screaming the lyrics to “Dancing on My Own” in a crowded bar, I don’t have to tell you Robyn has pretty much always been ahead of the curve. This is also true for her views on Elon Musk. On Wednesday’s episode of Las Culturistas, Robyn came out as his ultimate day-one hater. “I always hated Elon Musk. I always hated him, way before it was cool to hate him,” she said.
She remembers very clearly when her grudge began: February 6, 2018 — the day Musk shot his car into space. It didn’t help that he had the nerve to choose David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” as the soundtrack for the spaceflight. “He actually shot a car into space,” Robyn said, “as if there wasn’t enough shit floating around.”
Not that anyone needs a good reason to hate on Musk — between the rampant transphobia and his AI chatbot’s nonconsensual-nudes problem he has done very little to stop, there are plenty to choose from — but apparently the car thing was just a step too far for Robyn. As she so eloquently put it, she is a firm believer that “there should be democracy in space.” “The fact that anyone, or any commercial company, can decide what to do with natural resources and also do tacky things, like sending a stupid fucking car into space, that’s also dangerous for people,” she said. “Think about the astronauts that are up there in the International Space Station — they don’t really know what’s going to hit them or whatever. Can we all just have a vote on whoever gets to do anything there?”

Look, I’m no astrophysicist, but I’m not certain we should be that concerned about astronauts getting bonked on the head by Musk’s car. I could be wrong, though! Regardless, Robyn has a point: If you’re going to space, for the love of God, don’t be tacky about it. What would David Bowie think?
