Despite her American Eagle jeans ad controversy this summer, and her box-office defense of Christy in the fall, the Sydney Sweeney machine can’t stop and won’t be stopped. Next up in her never-ending press tour is the suburban thriller The Housemaid, which she co-stars in with Amanda Seyfried. (Then Euphoria in the spring. It will never end.) The movie’s November 12 seasonal trailer opens with the message, “Season’s Greetings from the Winchester Family.” But there’s no joy or merriment to be found.
The film follows a newly hired maid, Millie (Sweeney), in a beautiful suburban home, who is psychologically tortured by the housewife Nina (Seyfried). “Billie threw away my PTA notes!” Nina screams as she tosses the contents of the fridge on the floor. Then, once she comes to, Nina snuggles up to her husband and warns Millie, “You need to be more careful next time. You’ve ruined my entire day.”

Based on the thriller novel of the same name by Freida McFadden, The Housemaid is another of director Paul Feig’s domestic thrillers in the same vein as his Blake Lively–starring A Simple Favor. Brandon Sklenar, who played Atlas in It Ends With Us, co-stars as Nina’s husband, while Italian hottie Michele Morrone, who co-starred in Another Simple Favor, will play the groundskeeper.
