Predator Badlands is the apex predator of the box office. The latest from Dan Trachtenberg overperformed, bringing in $40 million domestic in its first weekend of release. Per Variety, the film is now the franchise’s strongest opening, topping Alien vs. Predator’s $38 mil in 2004. Predator’s success takes the box office out of its October mini-slump. With Tron: Ares flopping and Halloween weekend being the lowest-earning weekend of the year, things were looking pretty spooky.
Regretting You and The Black Phone 2 were at numbers 2 and 3 at the box office this weekend, continuing Mason Thames’s winning streak. Number 4 at the box office was faith-based biopic Sarah’s Oil. Historical thriller Nuremberg capped off the top 5. Die My Love debuted at number 8, with $2.83 million domestic. It’s hanging out in the bottom half of the B.O. with other awards contenders Bugonia (number 6 with $3.5 mil), Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere (no. 9, $1.8 mil), and Christy (no. 11 with $1.3 mil).
