It’s prom night for the theater community, and no one looks more excited than George Clooney. After he spent months publicly decrying his jet-black dye job, the actor stepped out at the Tony Awards on Sunday night showcasing his long-awaited return to salt-and-pepper hair. I mean, that smile says it all.
Earlier this year, Clooney dyed his hair black to play journalist Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, and Good Luck, the role for which he received his first-ever Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play. He’s spent a good amount of time on the talk-show circuit over the past few weeks, most of which was devoted to telling anyone who will listen how much he hates his hair. Just last week, on June 2, he showed up to Late Night With Seth Meyers in a hat to hide the little monstrosity on his head, promising to show up to the Tonys bald if it hadn’t grown out in time.

But now, it looks like Clooney’s got his mojo back. To be clear, his roots are still darker than the sides, but he and his wife, Amal Clooney, who joined him on the red carpet, don’t seem to mind. Congrats to them both — especially to Amal, who no longer has to hear her husband whine about his hair.
