Big Jim did it again. Avatar: Fire and Ash is expected to cross the half-billion mark at the end of this weekend, and getting its first billie after week 3. As of Christmas Day, it hit $450 million globally (per Variety). Will it cross $2 billion? Still TBD, but the word of mouth campaign for Varang has only begun. The people love Varang.
On Xmas day itself, Fire and Ash took in $24 million domestic. It’s slightly less than The Way of Water took the same day in 2022 ($29.1 mil). And did everyone leave some ping-pong balls out for Timothée Chalamet on Christmas Eve? At number 2 was Marty Supreme with $9.2 million, with Deadline predicting it will cross $20 mil by the end of the 4-day weekend.

Anaconda came in at number 3, with $9.1 million. It’s projected to perhaps surpass Marty Supreme when the weekend is over, in the $22-24 million range. And the kiddie underclass kept Zootopia 2 chugging along with another $5.3 million in its coffers. Unsurprisingly, a religious film was the last guy in the top 5. Angel Studios’ David got $4.56 million across over 3000 screens.
