Actually, he’s returning the money and staying put. Steve Miller has canceled his entire 2025 tour and is unsure when he’ll make a return to the road. Miller credits his decision — which would’ve had him and his band kicking off an outdoor amphitheater tour in New York next month — to the extreme weather currently plaguing our country. “You make music with your instincts,” he wrote in a statement. “You live by your instincts. Always trust your instincts. The Steve Miller Band has cancelled all of our upcoming tour dates. The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes, and massive forest fires make these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable. So, you can blame it on the weather. The tour is cancelled.” Of what the future holds for experiencing his live music, Miller added, “Don’t know when, don’t know where. We hope to see you all again.” Chrissie Hynde echoed a similar concern last month about global warming and its effect on touring musicians, writing “outdoor events are going to come to an end” because it’s “too hot” to perform. And where it stops, nobody knows.
