It was around this time last year that Justin Bieber unfollowed then refollowed his wife, Hailey, on Instagram, fueling breakup rumors. “Someone went on my account and unfollowed my wife,” Bieber claimed at the time, but his errant behavior throughout the first half of 2025 led many to believe that the couple was on the rocks. The release of SWAG and SWAG II, however, all but confirmed that things are fine between Justin and Hailey and no matter what, they are in love, thank you very much. This was never more apparent than during Bieber’s Grammys performance on February 1, which banked not only on the artist’s ability to perform a sultry, bare-bones, and bare-skinned version of “YUKON” but also make his wife proud. The shots of Hailey in the audience made the performance, affirming that she’s very much the key to his success in this next part of his career.
Justin Bieber has always been a wife guy, even when he’s not being an especially good husband. But as Lola Young’s Grammy win proved, being messy can be a good thing — sometimes, for some people. Bieber’s interpersonal messiness has rarely taken away from the commercial appeal of his success, but this new era of his life is predicated on getting and keeping it together, especially when it comes to his relationship with Hailey. It’s not enough for him to make music about how much he loves his wife; she needs to be present: in lyrics, sure, but also in Instagram posts and there at the Grammys. His performance was just as much hers, in a sense: her tears, her smile, her blurry visage on his back. Her presence is a confirmation that he’s doing well.

Hailey doesn’t post pictures of her husband often (in fact, he hasn’t appeared on her Instagram grid since late 2025), but her post-Grammys performance Instagram Story featured one picture of Justin performing followed by three photos of herself watching him play. In the final image of herself — her “clock it” finger applause after his set — she wrote, “and you can really clock that shit. see u at Coachella.” Her affection is apparent, but even more so, Hailey comes off as Justin’s manager. Her husband proving himself is just as much her business victory as it is his. “What would I do if I didn’t love you, baby?” he croons in “YUKON.” Will there be a Hailey cam set up at Coachella? There should be. She’s in his visualizer for “THINGS YOU DO,” in which Bieber sings about how she stood her ground, and she’s always ready for her close-up.
Maybe it wasn’t really Justin standing on business when it came down to it but Hailey. His victories are hers, less so the other way around. Her tears were almost certainly for Justin’s performance, but maybe also a little more self-conscious. She’s worked hard to keep them together; it’s only fair that she gets some of the limelight too.
