Rejoice, parody lovers. Scary Movie is returning with its most important actors in tow. Regina Hall and Anna Faris will return to the franchise as Brenda and Cindy, respectively, in the upcoming Scary Movie 6, Miramax confirmed on August 15. “We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again),” Hall and Faris said in a joint statement, per Deadline. The film, produced by Miramax for a first-look deal at Paramount, is reportedly preparing for an October shoot ahead of a release on July 12, 2026. Wayans brothers Keenen Ivory, Shawn, and Marlon are co-writing the script with Rick Alvarez (White Chicks). It will be directed by Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House).

The original Scary Movie franchise parodied the teen-slasher flicks that were so abundant in the late ’90s and aughts. But those aren’t nearly as prominent these days, so we hope this one takes on the modern, prestige-horror films currently dominating the conversation, like Hereditary, Weapons, and The Babadook. And by that, of course, we mean we hope they give Hall a chance to absolutely scream at some piece-of-shit son of hers like Toni Collette does in Hereditary. C’mon, Wayanses — let Regina Hall wail.
