Taylor Swift has been granted a restraining order against a man who she claims has been stalking her since last July, according to court documents obtained by The Cut. Brian Jason Wagner, a 45-year-old man who Swift says has repeatedly tried to gain access to her Los Angeles home, must now stay at least 100 yards away from the singer for the next five years.
Back in June, Swift was granted a temporary restraining order against Wagner. In her declaration, she said that Wagner came to her home at least three times in July 2024, at one point carrying “a glass bottle that could have been used as a weapon.” Swift was told that Wagner claimed he lived at her property, was in a relationship with her, that she was the mother of his child, and that he needed to see her in person, all of which she classified as “untrue and disconnected from reality.”
According to the declaration, Wagner appeared on Swift’s property again on May 21 and 22 of this year. He allegedly asked to see Swift, saying that he was “there checking on a friend.” A criminal-history report run by Swift’s security team apparently revealed that Wagner had previously been incarcerated, and during that time wrote “lengthy communications” to Swift in which he described his “infatuation” with her, the “romantic relationship” he claimed they had, and what Swift called “other completely fabricated stories about his involvement in my personal life.”
In addition to the appearances at her home, Swift said that Wagner sent her staff hundreds of emails with “concerning and threatening language.” He also allegedly attempted to divert mail from her residence and somehow convinced the Department of Motor Vehicles to change the address on his driver’s license to her home.

According to the restraining order issued on Monday, Wagner must stay away from Swift’s home, vehicle, and workplace and is not permitted to contact her in any way. The restraining order also prohibits Wagner from owning firearms or body armor.
This is not the first time Swift has dealt with a stalker. Multiple men have tried (with one actually succeeding) to break into her New York City home. In 2018, a man got into Swift’s Tribeca residence and actually used her shower and took a nap in her bed before he was arrested. The same man broke in again in 2019 and reportedly “ransacked the place.” Thankfully, Swift was not home during either of those attempts. In 2022, a man crashed his car into her building before jumping out of the car and ripping an intercom panel on the door while trying to enter her residence.
In 2019, Swift wrote in Elle that she was afraid someone might commit violence against her. “I carry QuikClot army grade bandage dressing, which is for gunshot or stab wounds,” she wrote. “Websites and tabloids have taken it upon themselves to post every home address I’ve ever had online. You get enough stalkers trying to break into your house and you kind of start prepping for bad things.”
The Cut has reached out to a representative for Swift and will update this post if we hear back.
