George Clooney recently dyed his hair black to play journalist Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, and Good Luck. on Broadway — his first time back onstage since his theatrical debut in 1986. As you can probably guess, the loss of his signature salt-and-pepper hair is devastating for us all, including Clooney himself, who has made his disdain for the dyed hair very clear. And several weeks into the show’s run, the man still cannot get onboard with his new look.
Per “Page Six,” Clooney received an honorary caricature of himself on Thursday night at Broadway hot spot Sardi’s. As the portrait was unveiled, the actor gazed longingly at the art, which featured his usual silver-fox styling. “I like the hair color. It’s much better than my hair color right now,” he said, holding the portrait lovingly. “That’s better. It’s gray — mostly gray. There we are. Thank you so much.”
Ever since he debuted this look, Clooney has been saying what we are all thinking about how he looks with dyed hair. In February, he told the New York Times that “nothing makes you look older than when an older guy dyes his hair,” and just last week, he told Gayle King that his current hair is “not good.” Can’t say I disagree.
