Let’s do a victory lap around the circuit. 🏎️ F1, the racing movie that’s less about racing and more about the differences between two generations of athletes, has become the biggest opening weekend box office for an Apple original film, estimated to earn $55 million over the weekend, coming in at no. 1 at the overall box office. With just previews and Friday earnings alone, F1 lapped Killers of the Flower Moon, earning $25 million on Friday, surpassing Flower Moon’s overall opening of $23 million. Alas, a movie about the highs and lows of international racing is more appealing than an epic 3-hour historical drama from the mind of Marty Scorsese, but the numbers do not lie! F1 did have the help of Warner Bros distribution to promote this one, but maybe that was a lesson that needed to be learned to get the dub.
