We might not have gotten a singular song of the summer, but this fall is all about letting loose, according to Demi Lovato. Her new album, It’s Not That Deep, is out now, and Lovato shared how the thesis of the album is focused on not taking yourself so seriously and having fun. “Just because it’s fall, it doesn’t mean we’re not going out,” Lovato explains on Las Culturistas. “I’m not taking myself too seriously as an artist anymore. I’m just having fun, and I wanted a body of work that’s really reflective of that.” She also credits her return to pop to feeling good in her personal life, sharing that she originally set out to write another record like Holy Fvck. “As I started writing the rock album, I was like, ‘I can’t really like I’m running out of things to write about because I’m so happy right now,’” Lovato laughed. All good problems to have.
