Bethany Cosentino, solo artist and frontwoman of Best Coast, is calling out Wasserman CEO Casey Wasserman over his involvement with Ghislaine Maxwell. Wasserman’s name has come up several times in the latest batch of Epstein files released by the Department of Justice. He appears to have had a flirtatious and possibly intimate relationship with Maxwell. Wasserman has represented Cosentino since 2021 — the same year Maxwell was convicted of conspiracy and sex trafficking. “It has come to my attention that the founder and CEO of my agency, Casey Wasserman, had a documented romantic relationship with Ghislaine Maxwell between the years of 2001 and 2003, and multiple documented connections and communications with Jeffrey Epstein confirmed by emails now part of public record,” Cosentino wrote in a statement on Instagram. “The position Casey Wasserman has put his agents in is inexcusable. This is a call for him to step down and a change of business name be imminent.”

In emails between Wasserman and Maxwell, the former asks the latter “what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather outfit?” Weeks later, Wasserman asks Maxwell for a massage, writing “I thought we would start at that place that you know of, and then continue the massage concept into your bed…and then again in the morning…not sure if or when we would stop.” Wasserman was married at the time, and flew with his wife on Epstein’s plane in 2002 as part of a Clinton Foundation trip to Africa.
“I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light,” Wasserman said in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. “I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane. I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them.” Other guests on Epstein’s plane on that flight included Bill Clinton, Chris Tucker, Kevin Spacey, and four women between 20 and 22. “No one knew why they were there as everyone else had a purpose,” a FBI memo says of the four.

“Casey’s response, that these emails are ‘deeply regretted,’ is not enough. Regret without accountability is just damage control,” Cosentino wrote in her statement. This is not Casey Wasserman’s first scandal. In 2024, The Daily Mail reported on the CEO’s alleged inappropriate relationships with female subordinates. Billie Eilish and Finneas left Wasserman shortly therafter. “Artists are tired of swallowing scandals like this. We are tired of learning, over and over, that men who control access, resources, money, and so-called safety in our industry are given endless grace,” Cosentino said. “We are tired of being asked to treat proximity to something horrific as an unfortunate situation we should simply move past – especially when the person involved still holds all the power.”
This Epstein dump has also complicated Wasserman’s relationship with the Olympics. Wasserman is currently chair of LA’s 2028 Summer Olympics committee, and his connection with Maxwell has been a major talking point of the #NOlympics movement. With these new emails (per independent journalist Alissa Walker), calls for him to step down have come from five city council members, multiple county supervisors, and comptroller Kenneth Mejiia. IOC president Kirsty Coventry said on February 1 that she is “obviously watching and monitoring the media… we’re aware of a few things that have been reported just today and we need some time to look into it.”
