Self-proclaimed mastermind Taylor Swift was entirely blown away when her football-playing boyfriend, who doesn’t know the word “fortuitous,” managed to surprise her with his proposal. “He really crushed it in surprising me,” Swift said while on The Graham Norton Show on October 3 for the release of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl. Apparently, the whole setup for his proposal, including the garden scene, was built while the two recorded their New Heights episode. “While we were talking on his podcast, he had a complete garden built out the back of his house to propose in,” she told Norton, adding “He went all out — ten out of ten.”
Swift was also wildly impressed by the ring, which is made by a jeweler she admires on Instagram whom she had shown Kelce “a year and a half ago.” “When I saw the ring, I was like, ‘I know who made that, I know who made that!’” she told the Heart Breakfast radio show on October 3. “And also, ‘You listen to me!’”

As for the wedding, it’s not happening anytime soon. “I want to do the album stuff first, and the wedding is what happens after in terms of planning,” she told Norton. “I think it will be fun to plan.” But we do know who’s performing. “We spoke to Ed Sheeran a few weeks back, and he told us he is constantly asked to perform at people’s weddings, so is he singing at your wedding?” host Fleur East asked Swift on Hits Radio Breakfast Show. You mean the ring bearer? “Oh it would be hard to keep him from it, I think!” Swift responded. “That’s the thing, he’s like, ‘I’m always being asked to sing at weddings.’ It’s like, ‘Ed, if there is a stage, you know you’ll be on it.’” In that case, congratulations to Travis Kelce on his wedding song, “Thinking Out Loud.” Or maybe Sheeran’s just performing “Azizam” these days?
