We’ve been in desperate need of Chanel for the past 19 years and thank God, it will come soon enough. A sequel to 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada is officially on the way. Like, wardrobe is ready, cameras are rolling, Anne Hathaway is in a trailer rechanneling her Andy Sachs (probably)… Runaway Magazine is back in the office, and baby, she’s printing pages. Here’s everything we know about what’s going to be in season for the sequel, including when production started filming.
Who’s back in the office?
Everyone is coming back for seconds: Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are all reprising their roles from the original film— Kenneth Branagh joins as Miranda Priestly’s husband. Last time we saw the editorial department, Priestly (Streep) was still the Editor-in-Chief, Andy (Hathaway) started a new job at a newspaper, Emily (Blunt) still worked at Runway, and Nigel (Tucci) also still worked at Runway — sigh. Hopefully, someone gets a promotion in the new film.

Wait, what is the sequel going to be about?
Official details are slim but according to Variety, the sequel is centered on the decline of the magazine publishing industry and how it affects Priestly’s career; she squares off against Emily as she’s now a high powered executive at an advertising agency. As for everyone else… the rest is still unwritten (or at least unknown to us).
Have they started filming yet?

When does it come out?
The Devil Wears Prada 2 comes out on May 1, 2026. A new movie for spring? Groundbreaking.
