Sean “Diddy” Combs’s federal sex-trafficking trial continues in Manhattan on June 3 with prosecutors calling more witnesses to bolster their case before another abuse accuser, Jane, takes the witness stand this week. Among the witnesses today are Eddy Garcia, who worked security at the Los Angeles hotel where Diddy allegedly attacked Casandra “Cassie” Ventura in 2016. Video of Combs allegedly beating Cassie, his then-girlfriend, was published by CNN in the spring last year. Garcia had indicated that he would not testify if called to the stand, intending to invoke his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. On June 2, Judge Arun Subramanian entered an immunity order for Garcia, which means that Garcia won’t get prosecuted for things he says on the stand. Under the order, Garcia has to answer questions; it also does not protect him if he lies in his testimony.

Another witness is Frank Piazza, a forensic-video expert poised to discuss the hotel video. Diddy’s violence toward Cassie is key to prosecutors’ allegations that he coerced her into dayslong sexual encounters with male escorts, billed “Freak Offs,” with a mix of physical and psychological abuse.
