Last week, a large cache of documents was unsealed in Blake Lively’s sexual-harassment suit against her It Ends With Us director and co-star, Justin Baldoni. The messages seem to have included lots of revelations from high-powered Hollywood figures discussing the movie’s production drama and have provoked a feeding frenzy among the tabloids and Reddit sleuths. While much of the attention was focused on Lively’s alleged texts with Taylor Swift, one of the other major takeaways to anyone who read the full docket is that Ryan Reynolds is the world’s No. 1 Blake Lively supporter.
In one text from August 2024, Reynolds wrote that Lively, in pulling together It Ends With Us, “went so far above and beyond what should be asked of anyone, in order to land a jumbo jet on a fucking dime.” Reynolds did not mince words when it came to his opinion of Baldoni, whom he called “an inexplicably toxic mess — to say nothing of the fact he ‘presents’ as a feminist ally/warrior when he’s actually a thoroughbred, predatory fraudster” in a text to Patrick Whitesell, executive director at Endeavor Talent Agency.

While some people might walk back such passionate messages after they were made public, Reynolds is standing by what he said. In a statement to Puck, a representative for Reynolds said the actor actually wishes he had gone harder.
“Yes, Ryan got involved — what husband wouldn’t support his wife and the mother of his children,?” the rep said. “He saw his wife fighting daily to stand up against sexual harassment in a private and respectful way, only to face retaliation for doing so. If anything, Ryan feels like he wasn’t angry enough. He passionately believes in and will stand up for the basic right to a safe workplace free of harassment and retaliation for his wife and others. Then, now, and always.”
While this whole ordeal is probably a huge nightmare for Lively, at least she knows that her man does not play about her. In terms of your husband’s texts becoming public information, this is actually the best-case scenario.
