Because the Marty Supreme needle drop just wasn’t enough for our man, Peter Gabriel has unveiled a new album, oi, and his ambitious rollout plan for 2026. “Believe it or not, it’s not 20 years between records, but three,” he joked in a video announcement. “This is ‘oi,’ like, Oi, you there. I guess that reflection is one of the themes that I’ve been thinking about.” Like his previous album, 2023’s flipped i/o, Gabriel will be releasing each song every time there’s a full moon, with the first track, “Been Undone,” already available for listening. (But what if there’s a full moon on the Sabbath?) In layman’s lunar terms, that means o/i will be fully out on December 23, and, in a perfect world, Gabriel will announce another arena tour soon to accompany it. “I have been thinking about the future and how we might respond to it,” he added about o/i in a statement. “We are sliding into a period of transition like no other, most likely triggered in three waves; AI, quantum computing and the brain computer interface. Artists have a role to look into the mists and, when they catch sight of something, to hold up a mirror.” Those eyes of his, of course, have seen it all.
