Ringo Gave His Beatles Film Script Some Starr Power

Yes, of course he’s acting naturally. In anticipation of the Beatles Extended Universe arriving in theaters as a four-part biopic series, Ringo Starr is keeping a steady beat with its progress. The New York Times reports that Starr, who will be played by Barry Keoghan in the films, worked with director Sam Mendes for two days to thoroughly go over the script of the drummer’s individual movie. Starr “offered extensive notes” to ensure it was more accurately reflective of his early life, particularly with regard to his family and first marriage to Maureen Starkey Tigrett. “He had a writer — very good writer, great reputation, and he wrote it great, but it had nothing to do with Maureen and I,” Starr explained. “That’s not how we were. I’d say, ‘We would never do that.’” The new edits satisfied Starr, but, like us, he remains a bit skeptical that the quartet of films will be completed for an early-2028 release. “But he’ll do what he’s doing,” he added of Mendes, “and I’ll send him peace and love.” Starr previously broke the news of Keoghan’s casting, with the actor later revealing that the duo had an “absolutely lovely” meeting at Starr’s home to learn more about each other. Should Paul Mescal be expecting a teatime invite from the other Paul soon?
