If your kid still hasn’t stopped singing Jack Black’s song “Peaches” since 2023, then we have exciting news for you. The sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the highest-grossing movie based on a video game, is coming out next year, hopefully with a new, equally catchy song that parents will unintentionally learn every word of. At Nintendo Direct on September 12, Nintendo confirmed a cast, a title, and a release date, per Polygon. Below, everything we know so far about the upcoming mission to rescue Princess Peach — this time in space.
What’s the title?
In a short video clip, a butterfly flies past a sleeping Mario, Peach, Toad, and Toadette before rising into the sky where the title The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is unveiled. Another collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination, the sequel title is taken from the 2007 Wii game Super Mario Galaxy. The game is considered one of the best Mario games of all time — listed at No. 3 on Nintendo Life.

Who’s in the cast?
Most of the cast members from the original film are returning including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek. Notably, Seth Rogan’s Donkey Kong is not confirmed to return. The children crave more banana slamma — maybe a Bananza spinoff? And if they need a Rosalina, Hunter Schafer’s still available for video-game adaptations.
When is the release date?
