The animals are loose and taking over the box office! Zootopia 2 is now the second-best Black Friday box office ever, with $38.5 million earned on November 28. It’s second only to last year’s Moana 2, which earned $54.3 million, giving Disney’s next Thanksgiving weekend premiere, Hexed, a lot to live up to for next year. That would be some real movie magic — or a curse for other big studios trying to break that same record in the future. However, the new record Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde hold over Moana and Maui is at the international box office. Zootopia 2 became the first Hollywood film in China to earn over $100 million in one single day, beating Avengers: Endgame’s record.
Overall, Zootopia 2 is doing better than expected at the box office, and it was expected to do pretty well. It’s estimated to earn between $152 million-$156 million over the five-day Thanksgiving weekend and about $98 million for the three-day weekend, following A Minecraft Movie and Lilo & Stitch for the highest family movie opening of the year. It’s called a hustle, sweetheart.
