Will America’s long national nightmare ever be over? Will we ever learn who Leonardo DiCaprio was talking to during a Golden Globes commercial break? Yesterday, his One Battle After Another co-star Teyana Taylor confirmed that, in the soundless video of DiCaprio talking to someone offscreen, he was talking to her. “Yesterday, I thought I broke the Da Vinci Code,” Taylor said on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. Today, she’s less sure.
If you read DiCaprio’s lips in the viral video, it becomes clear that he’s saying “K-pop,” which means he was probably discussing KPop Demon Hunters, which won two awards at the Globes. “I had to call Leo,” Taylor said. “I’m like, ‘I wasn’t asking you.’ I knew exactly what K-pop was ’cause Chase [Infiniti, their OBAA co-star] taught me. So I was like, ‘You can’t be talking to me. Were you talkin’ to me? ’Cause I already told people you were talking to me.’” DiCaprio confirmed that he was not.

So who was he talking to? Neither seems to know. “Apparently, he had two KPop Demon Hunters conversations that night,” Taylor said. “KPop Demon Hunters was just in his mouth all night.” And he was acting ridiculous with the other person. “I’m like Who else are you kiki-ing with like that?” Taylor asked. “Because that’s how we kiki. Who else are you chewing your invisible gum with? He don’t even remember who he was talking to.” To be fair, if there’s one person involved with One Battle who we think wouldn’t know what K-pop is, it is certainly Sean Penn. However, the question of if DiCaprio would chew invisible gum with him remains.
