Regretting You beat The Black Phone 2 for number one at the box office this Halloween weekend. Why? According to box office prognosticators, it’s because Colleen Hoover is for girls and baseball is for boys. The World Series (and Halloween parties) put a major ding in the box office this weekend, the worst all year according to Variety. Regretting You took in $8.1 million in its second week of release, with The Black Phone 2 almost tying with $8.0 mil. Chainsaw Man came in at number 3 with $6 million, followed by Kpop Demon Hunters with $5.3 mil, and Bugonia with $4.8 million in its first week going wide.
The other big release this weekend was every single Twilight movie. On Wednesday, the 20th anniversary re-release of Twilight took in $1.5 million, with New Moon racking up another half millie. We don’t have data on the re-release box office for Eclipse and the Breakings Dawn yet, but it’s possible the Twilight Saga cumulatively entered the top 5. That’s what happens when melodrama (girls) meets baseball (boys)!
