Lois Lane might not have passed her Journalism Ethics course while in college, but she does know how to get a salacious interview. The first full trailer for the upcoming Superman reboot debuted on May 14, and the film is apparently about press wars. The trailer opens with Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), an enterprising journalist, asking Clark Kent (David Corenswet) if he’d let her interview him “as Superman?” while seemingly in the process of kissing him. You’re too close to the subject, Lane! Then, when she does interview him, Superman gets mad that she’s asking hard questions. “Did you consult with the president?” she asks. In response, Superman groans and says, “No.” Then, he starts screaming at her: “People were going to die!” Later in the trailer, Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) spells out his evil motivations. “He’s not man, he’s an ‘it’ that has somehow become the focal point of the entire world’s conversation,” Luthor says. “I will not accept that.” Okay, diva, maybe let’s start by getting a PR team.
