Fins down, bid paddles up! One wealthy, fanatical Parrot Head will soon be able to say that they got seasick on the very same vessel that Jimmy Buffett once scooted around in when the late “Boat Drinks” singer and Florida-core lifestyle mogul’s former yacht goes up for auction. Palm Beach–based G3 Auctions, which specializes in selling all kinds of tax shelters ranging from luxury seacraft to megamansions to entire private islands, will put a yacht once owned by Buffett on the auction block on Thursday, September 4. The yacht, which Buffett dubbed Continental Drifter II but which is now called DoubleYou, was originally on the market without a buyer for $2.7 million, but that number has dropped to a minimum bid of only $1.2 million. For a piece of cherished American history such as this, that sounds like a steal. This Cheoy Lee 90 Expedition can sleep nine guests and four crew, downright modest by rich-people boat standards but a perfect size for a bachelor party, nuclear Mormon family, or U.S. Supreme Court work retreat. The opportunities are endless.

It goes without saying that Continental Drifter II was far from being Buffett’s only boat; it wasn’t even his only boat called Continental Drifter. According to BuffettNews.com, the professional chiller owned nine boats and eight planes over the course of his 76 years. Few former celebrity-owned boats can claim that they were owned by a guy whose whole deal was boats.
If you happen to get outbid on Buffett’s yacht, there are still ways to pay nautical tribute to the genius who gave us the concept of it being five o’ clock somewhere. “Continental Drifter” is the name of an entire colorway of Margaritaville merch, so you can match the navy-and-white yacht with a cooler bag or a beach umbrella for as little as $35. Or you can book a Margaritaville at Sea cruise, which goes for as little as a frankly alarming $65. That’s a possible 18,461 Jimmy Buffett–themed two-day cruises for the cost of one formerly Buffett-owned yacht at its lowest asking price. That’s 14 straight years of back-to-back Margaritaville cruises!
