Anything would be welcome in favor of that Wizard of Oz monstrosity, but this is still an inspired idea fit for royalty. Brian May, like many of his rock brethren, would like Queen to have a residency at Las Vegas’s Sphere, and he says conversations have already been initiated to make it a reality. “I’m very keen on the Sphere,” May told Rolling Stone. “It’s got my mind working. I sat there watching the Eagles, thinking, We should do this. The stuff that we could bring to this would be stupendous. So, yeah, I would like to do it.” (No love for U2?) The guitarist, who’s approaching his 80s, cites growing weary of touring as another reason. “I feel like I’ve given up my freedom too many times,” he explained. “So my feeling at the moment is I don’t want to tour as such. I still want to play shows. I still want to innovate.” The current iteration of Queen consists of May, drummer and fellow co-founder Roger Taylor (who has a 20-foot fiberglass statue of Freddie Mercury in his garden), and vocalist Adam Lambert. Maybe use this as inspiration for the “Don’t Stop Me Now” visuals.
