Lady Gaga Won an Emmy

by thenowvibe_admin

Surprise! Lady Gaga has an Emmy now. I know what you’re thinking: Didn’t the Emmys already happen? They did, but she won her award at the Sports Emmys, held specifically to recognize excellence in American sports television. Duh. They were held at the Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City on May 20. The win means she’s one Tony away from achieving EGOT status.

If you’re a little confused as to why Lady Gaga won a sports award, well, same. She received the award for her performance of “Hold My Hand” at the Super Bowl LIX pregame festivities in New Orleans earlier this year. Gaga, who was nominated in the Outstanding Music Direction category, beat out Prime Video’s Evolution of the Black Quarterback, HBO Max’s The Lionheart, ESPN+’s “Noche UFC: For Mexico, for All Time,” and Netflix’s The Turnaround.

Mother Monster already has an Oscar for her writing and producing credits on “Shallow,” which won Best Original Song in 2019, and 14 Grammys across her music catalogue. All that’s left for her to snag is a Tony Award and then she’ll join the ranks of just 21 people who have achieved an EGOT, including Audrey Hepburn, Whoopi Goldberg, John Legend, and Gaga’s dear friend Elton John.

Gaga hasn’t had a stint on Broadway yet, so if you see her popping up in Times Square anytime soon, you’ll know why. I’d love to see her go all out for the Tony — an original Mayhem musical, perhaps?
