Brandon Blackstock, the talent manager and ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson, died on Thursday following a three-year battle with cancer, according to People. He was 48 years old.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” a representative for Blackstock’s family told People. “Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

Clarkson revealed that Blackstock was sick on Wednesday, announcing that she was canceling the remaining August dates of her Las Vegas residency in order to be “fully present” for her children. “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” she shared in a statement on Instagram. “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.” The singer had previously canceled the opening night of the concert series, citing that rehearsals had “taken a toll” on her voice.

Clarkson and Blackstock, the son of her former manager, got married in 2013. Together they had two children, River and Remington. In 2020, Clarkson filed for divorce, which was finalized in 2022. The singer later said that she “did not handle” the divorce “well.”

Blackstock is survived by his two children with Clarkson and two children, Savannah and Seth, from a previous marriage.
