In a New York Times interview, Miley Cyrus says she’s not estranged from her father, Billy Ray Cyrus. “As I’ve gotten older, I’m respecting my parents as individuals instead of as parents — because my mom really loved my dad for her whole life,” she said. “And so I think I took on some of my mom’s hurt as my own because it hurt her more than it hurt me as an adult, and so I owned a lot of her pain.” Cyrus said that now Tish is married to Prison Break’s Dominic Purcell, things are much easier. Also she’s cool with Elizabeth Hurley as a new member of the extended fam. “Now that my mom is so in love with my stepdad, who I completely adore, and now that my dad, I see him finding happiness, too,” she said, “I can love them both as individuals instead of as a parental pairing.”

Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus divorced in 2022, after several aborted attempts in 2010 and 2013. In 2022, Billy Ray got engaged to Australian singer Firerose. The two wed in October 2023 and were divorced in 2024. Billy Ray is now dating Elizabeth Hurley. The couple hard launched on Instagram this past Easter. Tish married Purcell in August 2023.
