Jennifer Lopez performed in front of the toughest crowd imaginable: a bunch of disappointed Swifties who realized that Taylor Swift isn’t coming to the AMAs. Nevertheless, she persisted. To open the 2025 AMAs, she, alongside her backup dancers, performed to a medley of 23 nominated songs and hits from the past year, including “Not Like Us,” “Espresso,” “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” and “Lose Control” — and during the latter song segment, she started making out with some of the dancers. Yes, dancers as in plural, multiple people! She did a rare feat and found a way for us to enjoy an overplayed song. The performance itself was a fun way to open a show that didn’t feel self-serving— Lopez could’ve easily performed to a medley of her own songs, but instead decided to highlight the most popular tracks from the past year.
