Sean “Diddy” Combs appears to be working on himself when he’s not sitting through testimony in his Manhattan federal court sex-trafficking trial — with self-help books. Diddy was spotted with a book with an orange cover in court on June 10; a source told Vulture the book is called The Magic of Believing. The book is about exactly what it sounds like. The author, Claude M. Bristol, apparently instructs people how to “harness the unlimited power of the subconscious mind and make your dreams come true … Protect your thoughts and turn them into achievements … Use ‘the law of suggestion’ to step up your effectiveness in everything you do … apply the power of your imagination to overcome obstacles … and much more!” Okay!
Diddy just finished reading The Slight Edge: Turning Simple Disciplines Into Massive Success and Happiness, the same source said. The description for Jeff Olson’s book is similarly upbeat. ”The Slight Edge is a way of thinking, a way of processing information that enables you to make the daily choices that will lead you to the success and happiness you desire.” The pitch is that in reading this book, you too can “learn why some people make dream after dream come true, while others just continue dreaming and spend their lives building dreams for someone else.” Lest anyone think it’s just another, you know, book like this, “it’s not just another self-help motivation tool of methods you must learn in order to travel the path to success. It shows you how to create powerful results from the simple daily activities of your life, by using tools that are already within you.” Noted! There’s mention of the “secret to happiness” and a “ripple effect,” but the gist seems to be: Success stems from attitude. It’s unclear just how much these books could help someone who is on trial for alleged sex-trafficking, but the grind-set mindset has no limits. Diddy has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
