Earlier this month, a new documentary about Billy Idol expounded on a very punk life twist that surfaced for the rocker back in 2023: He had a long-lost son who was discovered through the genetic-testing service 23andMe. The son, Brant, has since been welcomed into Idol’s rebellious family and has made several public appearances with them — we likely would have seen him, for instance, at this year’s Rock Hall induction ceremony if Idol had made the final cut. Now, the man who once sang about rocking the cradle of love is willing to admit he’s not exactly surprised by his expanding lineage. “Maybe a little bit, but the more I thought about it, I guessed there must be something like that,” he told iNews. “Because we were going around in the ’80s and ’70s, just having knockdown, drag-out sex with a million people you didn’t know. A lot of people in the rock world got children beyond their usual relationships.” (Just ask John Oates, who once admitted he’d “lost track” of the thousands of women he slept with.) Idol doesn’t believe there are more, more, more secret children out there whom he fathered, though: “I think we would know about them now if there were.” Consider this an addendum to that time he admitted to us, “I was fucking everything that moved.”
