While much of the world seems ready to move on from Blue Origin’s all-women space project, Katy Perry is “still processing” her interstellar moment. After spending a quick ten minutes in space inside an unmistakably phallic rocket ship called the New Shepard, the pop star fell to the ground and kissed the earth. Twenty-four hours later, Perry appears to be reminiscing on her (short) time in zero gravity with an Instagram Reel set to her own song, “Wonder,” and also promoting her upcoming Lifetimes tour.
Lots of other people are “still processing” Perry’s trip to space, including Emily Ratjakowski and Olivia Wilde, who both skewered the exorbitant costs of the joyride. One surprisingly outspoken critic? The fast-food chain Wendy’s. After PopCrave announced that Perry had returned from space, Wendy’s responded on X, “Can we send her back” and followed that up with a spicy “I kissed the ground and I liked it.” Also seemingly weighing in was Kesha, who spent nearly a decade in a court battle with Perry’s producer, Dr. Luke, after accusing him of rape and physical and emotional abuse. Considering Perry worked with Dr. Luke on her 2024 album, 143, Kesha seems to be feeling some Schadenfreude — she posted a photo of herself in sunglasses, grinning and drinking a Wendy’s milkshake.
Anyway, I hope all the Blue Origin ladies are adjusting to gravity after their four weightless minutes. May they continue to take up space here on Earth.
