Just when you had forgotten about their feud rumors, Instagram drama, and speculation about a secret affair, Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood have reunited. In an apparent effort to dispel the gossip surrounding the nature of their relationship, they came together for a very intimate, very emotional joint interview with Variety. At this rate, we’ll be talking about The White Lotus season-three drama for the rest of our lives.
In case you were ready to put this to bed, let me remind you how we got here. The rumors all began when Reddit sleuths noticed Goggins had seemingly unfollowed and blocked Wood on Instagram. Then, Jason Isaacs added fire to the flames by repeatedly referring to “tensions and difficulties” on set; meanwhile, Goggins said he and Wood had become “enmeshed” while playing couple Rick and Chelsea on the show. At one point, even Goggins’s wife weighed in. Then, Goggins liked a clip of a Saturday Night Live skit that Wood had accused of shaming her appearance, before showing up to host the show himself. But now, it sounds like the actors are on really, really good terms.
According to Variety, Goggins and Wood began their interview with a 30-second-long hug that turned into a dance party, which definitely sounds like normal co-worker behavior. “There is no feud,” Goggins said. “I adore, I love this woman madly, and she is so important to me.” He then turned to Wood, choked up. “This is Goldie Hawn. This is Meg Ryan. She can do anything, and she will. You watch what the next 20 years of her experience will be. I’ll be on an island, I think Greece. But she’s special. There is no feud. She is love, and I know that I am that to her. We care about each other very deeply.”

When asked about the Instagram drama, Goggins admitted to unfollowing Wood and chalked it up to him being bad at good-byes. “I needed to just back away from everyone,” he said, helpfully explaining that “Rick means everything to me, and Chelsea means everything to me. And so that’s what I needed to do for me to process all of this.” I take that to mean that if he had just used the “mute” button instead, we wouldn’t even be in this mess.
During the tearful conversaion, Goggins and Wood also waxed poetic about their Scorpio connection, being antisocial (together) on set, and how they’ll be “friends for fucking ever.” According to Variety, Goggins and Wood “hugged multiple times, held each other’s hands and continuously exchanged compliments” during their interview.
I guess we can just chalk this up to them being two very committed actors. Who’s ready for season four?
