Wicked: For Good certainly isn’t a sexy film. Yes, it’s packed with longing gazes, firm hand squeezes, and what some might describe as sapphic sexual tension. But the lone sex scene in the movie was mostly overshadowed by a chunky knit sweater, and now, it’s looking like Wicked passed up yet another opportunity to horn-ify its love triangle. While speaking to Deadline last week, the film’s co-writer Dana Fox revealed that one deleted scene featured a fiery kiss between Glinda (Ariana Grande) and Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey).
“There was a scene between Fiyero and Glinda that we cut in which they kissed,” Fox told the outlet. “It was romantic and beautiful, but a little too passionate.” She added that it would be “too real” and “too romantic” for audiences to see Fiyero and Glinda “actually feeling something together,” because then fans’ “brains will explode when he doesn’t choose her in the end.” She then concluded that “it was a good cut because it was too adorable that you simply couldn’t handle it.”

With all due respect, I think we could have handled it. Why won’t Wicked let this love triangle be horny? Maybe it’s to keep the movie’s PG rating, but I can’t help but feel that a semi-decent look at Bailey’s traps is simply not enough. Release the scene, prudes.
