Did you think you were done? You thought that just because Belly picked a brother and got a bob that you would be released from the grip of The Summer I Turned Pretty? Oh, a show “airs its series finale” and suddenly everyone thinks they can get their sanity back because they are “in their 30s” and “shouldn’t be this emotionally invested in a brother-based love triangle.” Think again, dummies. We’re going back to Cousins.
By the grace of Susannah, we aren’t getting another full season of television, but rather a Summer I Turned Pretty movie. Two hours is doable. The news was announced on the red carpet at the series-finale event in Paris, where actors Lola Tung and Chris Briney posed in front of a marquee that read “The Summer I Turned Pretty the Movie.”

Variety later reported that Jenny Han, who wrote the TV show and the original book series, would be returning to write the screenplay. “There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due. I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans,” Han told Variety.

The movie is going to be about Belly and Conrad’s wedding, right? That’s the “big milestone” Han is talking about? And this time around it will (a) actually happen and (b) take place at the Cousins house, with everyone finally having a good time? That’s my guess, and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to seeing it — hopefully in theaters — with a group of like-minded grown women after a couple glasses of wine. To Belly!
