Matty Healy Calls Himself a ‘Generational Poet’

At this point, it’s very clear that Taylor Swift and Matty Healy have moved on: Swift is singing her boo’s favorite songs at surprise performances and Healy’s engagement was so brat. But again, one half of the relationship was Healy, so it makes sense that even over a year later, the 1975 frontman is still trolling English majors, aka Swifties. During the band’s headlining set at Glastonbury on Friday, Healy knew that he’d have a lot of eyes on this performance, as it’s the only one currently scheduled for the band this year. “I have this thing where it’s difficult to tell when I’m being sincere. But I want to be sincere,” Healy began sarcastically, as he sipped on a pint. “What this moment is making me realise is that I, probably, am the best songwriter of my generation. The best poet, ladies and gentlemen, is what I am. A generational poet. A generational wordsmith.” One more drink and he might’ve mentioned the word “Tortured.”
