What do Charlize Theron and Alex Cooper have in common? Unfortunately, it’s not something fun like a colorist or favorite junk food. It’s holding onto shame from being sexually harassed. In the latest episode of Call Her Daddy, Cooper and Theron commiserated about their experiences with harassment and how much they used to beat themselves up about it. Cooper shared that she was sexually harassed by her soccer coach in the recent doc Call Her Alex. And in a 2019 Howard Stern Show interview, Theron discussed the time a director harassed her during what was supposed to be an audition. “I remember being furious with myself because I couldn’t believe how I had let myself down,” Theron said. “I was like, “Who the fuck are you? Why the fuck would you allow that? Why?”
Theron says that she was propositioned during her first ever audition. She went over to a director’s house, and he opened the door in pajamas. The director kept interrupting her, and when he put his hand on her knee, she left.

Cooper named her alleged harasser, Boston University soccer coach Nancy Feldman, but Theron has not come forward with the identity of the director. She did tell Cooper that after she told the story in 2019, he “got a little nervous” and sent a letter trying to explain his behavior and how Theron misconstrued it. “And I just realized, like, I won’t even fucking say your name because you know you’re the scumbag. You know it’s you and if anybody ever asked me about him, I would be completely honest. And he knows that. And I kind of like that he’s got to be on a hot seat. He doesn’t know when it’s going to come,” Theron said. “I kind of like that a little more.”
