Bad Bunny isn’t going to let a little right wing freakout get in the way of his Super Bowl Halftime Show plans. During his Saturday Night Live monologue, he addressed the controversy surrounding his announcement as the MVP of next year’s Super Bowl. (What’s that? The MVP is probably going to be a player on one of the football teams? Boring, but okay.) “I’m very excited to be doing the Super Bowl, and I know people all around the world who love my music are also happy,” Benito said in English before switching to Spanish. In Spanish, he said “Especially all of the Latinos and Latinas in the world here in the United States who have worked to open doors. It’s more than a win for myself, it’s a win for all of us. Our footprints and our contribution in this country, no one will ever be able to take that away or erase it.” He then said, in English, “If you didn’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn.”

The Trump admin has been losing its marbles over Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl appointment. When asked if the NFL was trying to send a message by choosing Bad Bunny, DHS Secretary/South Park character Kristi Noem said “They suck and we’ll win and God will bless us, and we’ll stand and be proud of ourselves at the end of the day, and they won’t be able to sleep at night because they don’t know what they believe and they’re so weak. We’ll fix it.” Corey Lewandoski also said ICE would be at the Super Bowl. They know Puerto Rico is part of the U.S., right? That’s why Juan Jamón (Jon Hamm’s alter ego) can go from Bad Bunny’s residency to cameoing on SNL so quickly.
