Ariana Grande Wore Carol Burnett’s Bob Mackie Dress

by thenowvibe_admin

In case you aren’t waiting with bated breath like I am, let me be the first to remind you that Ariana Grande is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, with Cher as the musical guest. An iconic lineup, if you ask me. So what is our recovering Glinda wearing to mark the occasion? Well, it looks like she found the perfect look. In a promotional clip for this weekend’s episode, Grande had on a piece of television history: a vintage Bob Mackie gown first worn by Carol Burnett for the opening monologue of The Carol Burnett Show in 1973.

The yellow, brown, and orange chevron halter gown was sourced by stylist (and Method dressing guru) Law Roach, per “Page Six,” who bought it at an auction for $3,840 earlier this month. It’s a fitting outfit choice — with the look, Grande gives a nod to Burnett as a comedy icon, as well as to Cher, who was one of Mackie’s greatest muses. I’d argue it’s one of Grande’s best looks in a while — and doesn’t it feel good to see her in something other than pink again? Thank goodness.
