Amy Redford Remembers Father Robert Redford’s Legacy Ahead of Sundance

by thenowvibe_admin

This is Amy Redford’s first Sundance Film Festival without her father, Robert Redford, who co-founded the festival in 1978. She remembers her father fondly this week, right before the festival kicks off in Utah for the last time on January 22. “You know, he was playful and curious and kind, and I think what he taught us to do is really find the thing that we’re most passionate about and the things we think might be able to change the world,” she shares on the TODAY show. “The best thing I think he did for my family was raise us between New York City and the mountains of Sundance, because we got to live between the city and in natural law, and taught us a very strong value of stewardship.”

As she prepares for the first Sundance without Robert, she finds comfort in how his legacy has become so important to the independent film community and to Utah. “I think his legacy is really about giving forward,” she concludes. “It’s like a community that comes home every single year.”
