Could Shallot Pasta Have Saved the RHONY Reboot?

by thenowvibe_admin

The latest reboot of The Real Housewives of New York may have met an untimely end, but there is apparently a world in which all this might have been different. During Tuesday’s episode of the podcast Watch What Crappens, chef and food writer Alison Roman revealed that Bravo once approached her about joining the show. “I was asked if I would consider perhaps auditioning to be a Real Housewife of New York,” she told hosts and Bravo experts Ben Mandelker and Ronnie Karam. When Karam told her she would’ve been “perfect for this cast,” Roman quickly responded, “No, I would not. I would be so bad.”

Karam disagreed, noting that the long-running series was no longer about “loony, cartoony older women like it has been for years” (he was, I guess, referring to Bethenny Frankel, Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Jill Zarin, Kelly Bensimon, and Dorinda Medley), instead showcasing “younger, influencer-cool chicks” like recent cast members Jenna Lyons, Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank, and Brynn Whitfield. “I would so not fit in,” Roman insisted. “I don’t think I could handle it.”

“I think I would quickly get worn down on a spiritual level, and I would be like, This is not for me, and I can’t be myself,” she added. “And I’m a bird with wings that are clipped, and I have to fly, and I can’t fly here.”

Could Roman’s shallot pasta have saved the RHONY reboot? Maybe not. But I do feel that we were robbed of an episode where Roman makes her viral chickpea stew on-camera and feeds it in little spoonfuls to the rest of the women. Then again, not all hope is lost: Roman said she’d consider joining the cast somewhere down the line. “Honestly, maybe in 20 years, that’s my final form,” she said. “But right now, I have too much living to do.” Same, girl.
