In news that will surprise no one, Nicole Kidman is obsessed with hairless cats. Yes, the actress who has perfected the art of playing someone a little haunted and a little freaky can’t get enough of felines who look like haunted little freaks themselves. It’s a match made in cat heaven.
While promoting her new film, Holland, Kidman was asked during a People interview what she obsesses over. “Hairless cats,” she answered quickly, explaining that she had spent some time looking at them the night before. “I love hairless cats. I just love them. I’ve decided — I mean, we have three cats already — but I’d really like a hairless cat.” Hello, Keith Urban? Your wife’s birthday is in June, and I have a great idea for a gift.
Not everyone is onboard with sphynx cats, though. Kidman’s co-star Matthew Macfadyen thinks they are “quite startling” and added that he’s heard them called “scrotum” cats. Kidman correctly pointed out, “Hairless cats take offense to that.”
“They’re very, very yummy,” she continued. “Very nice and, I think, very pretty, but that might just be me. I was really going gaga over all the hairless cats. So one might be in my future.”
Kidman loving a hairless cat makes perfect sense. It’s actually shocking that she doesn’t already have, like, four of them named after her favorite female directors. Can’t you imagine her lounging on a vintage love seat, stroking a sphynx named Varda?
