Michelle Trachtenberg has died at 39. Per AMNY and ABC7, Trachtenberg was found dead in her midtown apartment on Wednesday morning. The New York Post cites police sources who told the outlet that the actress’s death is not being investigated as suspicious.
ABC News reports that Trachtenberg died of natural causes, noting that she had recently undergone a liver transplant and may have been experiencing complications from the surgery. Her family reportedly objected to an autopsy for religious reasons.
Trachtenberg rose to prominence as a child actor in the mid-’90s and early 2000s, appearing as a toddler in the Nickelodeon show The Adventures of Pete & Pete before graduating to starring roles in films like Harriet the Spy and Ice Princess. As she got older, she took on more adult parts in television shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and a particularly memorable recurring role on Gossip Girl.
