Lovers of mess will remember that last month, JoJo Siwa competed on Celebrity Big Brother in the U.K., and that she got quite close with her castmate Chris Hughes. You might also remember that Siwa was in a relationship at the time, and that her partner was none too pleased with watching her cuddle, hug, and be emotionally vulnerable with someone else. They broke up, and now it kind of seems that Siwa is dating Hughes?
Siwa turned 22 earlier this week and posted a celebratory photo dump on Wednesday to commemorate the occasion. Hughes is in a lot of the photos, including the first one, which shows him and Siwa sitting with her leg draped over his and her head resting on his shoulder. When someone is hard launching a new boyfriend, this is usually the kind of photo they use.

Some more evidence from the dump: In one photo taken from Siwa’s perspective, they’re eating room-service breakfast together and she’s drinking out of a mug with their faces on it. (A birthday gift, perhaps?) There’s a short video in which Hughes, seated next to a large pile of wrapped presents, tells Siwa, “My mum taught me how to wrap.” The most damning photos come toward the end of the carousel (where they always hide the good stuff). There, Siwa stashed a shot of Hughes’s hand on her thigh and a selfie of the two of them cuddling. Also revealed in these photos is that Hughes met Siwa’s Dance Moms instructor Abby Lee Miller, but we don’t have time to unpack that.

Almost as if it were coordinated, Hughes also posted a photo dump on Wednesday. His, captioned “The previous 7 days have been the prettiest… 😊💫🎂,” also features a lot of photos of him and Siwa looking loved up.

Right after emerging from the Big Brother house, Siwa and Hughes maintained that they were just friends. In a joint appearance on This Morning, Hughes gave his best attempt at explaining what was going on between them: “It’s just a really strong bond. A strong friendship. You can have a soulmate friendship. I think that’s a thing.” Siwa was open-minded about where things were going, saying, “I don’t know any future of anything, but I am really grateful for our dynamic that we have, the bond that we have, and whatever life does, life will do.”
Life has certainly done what it will do. In case you’re curious, about nine hours after Siwa posted these photos, her ex Kath Ebbs made their own post. The caption reads “But there’s so much JOY!!!” and the post includes a bunch of pictures of Ebb having fun with their friends and seemingly doing well after the breakup. The last photo, however, is a selfie Ebbs took in bed, mouth agape in shock. It’s the kind of face you might make if, say, you just saw that your ex had hard launched the person with whom she had had a televised emotional affair. Or maybe it’s about something else, who knows!
