The American Music Awards took place on Monday night, and while I normally would not care, this year’s ceremony gave us Jennifer Lopez performing a seven-minute-long dance medley that featured 23 songs, two live make outs, and less than 60 seconds of actual singing. Lopez was both the evening’s host and its opening performer, first going onstage at Vegas’s Fontainebleau in a nude, futuristic bodysuit surrounded by a bunch of mirrors — a callback to the mirror scene in her “Can’t Get Enough” music video, perhaps? She sang her 2012 song “Dance Again” in dramatic fashion, then beckoned the audience to enter the J.Lo “multiverse,” during which she kissed a female and a male dancer while swaying to Teddy Swims’s “Lose Control.”

As you can imagine, some people on social media were weird about the onstage kisses, saying her smoochfest was “queerbaiting” and “bi-baiting,” while others saw it as a callback to the Britney and Madonna kiss at the 2003 VMAs. But the make outs were just a tiny sliver of J.Lo’s onstage cardio workout, as she whipped her hair, crawled through dancers’ legs, and performed intricate footwork to Bad Bunny’s “NUEVAYoL.” As she told People ahead of the show: “It seems like a perfect summer to celebrate being free and being happy.”

The singer appears to be taking full advantage of her single life. To the misery of Bennifer 2.0 fans everywhere, Lopez and former twin flame Ben Affleck finalized their divorce earlier this year, but she’s been thriving lately — wearing skintight spiderweb dresses and, now, making out with her dancers because she can.
